Website Review
05/06/2014 12:02For this site my goals were to produce a site for a photography business that provided its targeted audience with the information they required. I also wanted to provide them with adequate social features for them to be able to share and provide opinion on the content of the site. I believe I was able to achieve these goals through the use of image galleries and Facebook integration. By using image galleries the users of this site would be able to see the photographer’s images and see what sort of images they could expect from this business. Facebook integration also provides a great platform for users to engage and discuss their opinions of the photographs.
I believe the site is designed well for its target audience, the colour scheme is simple and straight forward, this allows me to focus their attention on the images on the site. The text on the site uses a simple font to ensure readability and is of an adequate size. The images are designed to stand out to the user, as this is the main part of the site the user’s attention will be focused on. I also provided the option of separate image types on separate pages to allow users who are looking for particular event photography, an easy way to find the photographs to suit them.
The site is easily navigable through a series of links at the top of the page and they have the option to easily access any page through the site map and pathway links. A search feature is also included on the site to allow users quick browsing of the content.
One disadvantage I believe my site suffers from is the lack of content on the site, due to this being a photography business, images are suited to be the best method of advertising this business, leaving little to be detailed in text. However the site does have a blog feature which could be used to provide updates from shoots to the users and provide them more topics for discussion within social media.
